Pam’s Choice Foxglove (Digitalis) is an impressive second year blooming biennial. It has tall spires, with white bells with dark plum-colored throats and freckles. Bell's form on one side of the stem. It blooms in late spring in the second season of growth.

Like other plants, foxglove attracts hummingbirds. It produces 3” to 5” tall stems and 2” to 3” short, secondary stems. It is easy to grow and attractive in beds and borders or naturalized areas.

Growing Guide:

  • Grows up to 32-60” tall
  • Spreads up to 12”
  • Prefers to be in sun to part shade
  • Needs medium moisture to well-drained, humus-rich soil
  • Transplant (recommended): Sow 10-12 weeks before last frost. Do not cover seed as light is required for germination. Bottom water or mist to avoid covering the seed with displaced soil. Transplant into cell packs or larger containers after the first true leaves appear, 15-20 days after sowing. Harden-off and transplant outside after the last frost.
  • Direct seed: Sow as soon as soil can be worked, only in areas with long growing seasons. Do not cover seed as light is required for germination. Keep soil moist.
  • Check out for some pests like aphids, leaf spots and powdery mildew. If left untreated, it can depreciate foliage.
  • You can start harvesting when the lower part of the flowers on a spike opens.
  • Hardy in USDA Zones 4-8
