Zinnia was first introduced in England in the year 1796. It looks beautiful with its doubled-flower that is 4.5” across and in a mix color like orange, red, purple, pink and golden yellow.

Using Zinnia in your bouquets definitely is a unique way to beautify any occasion. That is the reason why it is highly suggested by the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers.


Sow the seeds of your Benary’s Giant Mix indoors for 6 to 8 weeks before the last. Make sure to keep it in an area with a temperature of 70 – 80° Fahrenheit. It will start the sprout in 5 to 10 days. It is ready to be set outdoors after the last spring frost if the temperature at night remains at 50° Fahrenheit. 

Germination Time: 3 to 5 Days 

Germination Temp.: 80 to 85°F

Plant Spacing: Spaces in between the plants should be 9 to 12”. You need to make sure that you follow the spacing required for each plant to avoid any diseases.

Soil Requirement: Needs to be a soil rich in organic matter with a pH of 6.3 to 6.8

Light Requirement: Prefers access to sunlight

Water Requirement: Only needs a medium amount of water. It can tolerate drought but grows better when watered regularly. 

Like any other plants, Zinnia Benary’s Giant Mix can experience some pests and diseases while growing. When you give spaces to each plant properly, fungal issues can be avoided. Slugs and crushed eggshell can also cause problems on your plants. You can use organic fungicide to treat any pests/diseases when it takes place.
